Register of Members

The register of members of a company, which should contain details of all current and former shareholders of the company, the number and class of shares they hold and details of how and when they acquired or disposed of those shares. A company is required under the Companies Act 2006 to maintain a register of members. This is an important document as a person will not have legal title to shares in a company until they have been registered in the register of members in respect of such shares.
